The tech industry has bolstered California’s economy and continues to be the envy of West Virginia outputs more than $1.5 billion in GDP from the information technology sector and employs 539 tech workers per billion of GSP. Roughly eight percent of the state’s workforce is employed in the tech sector and West Virginia has a robust biotech and chemical industry backed by the state’s large base of specialty chemical companies, as well as its metals and alloys sector.
